HIDA scan

A HIDA scan (hepatobiliary iminodiacetic acid scan) is a medical imaging test that evaluates the health of your gallbladder and bile ducts. It involves injecting a small amount of a safe radioactive tracer into your bloodstream. The tracer travels to your liver, where it's processed and then collected by your gallbladder. A special camera takes pictures to track the movement of the tracer, helping doctors see if the gallbladder is functioning properly, if there's blockage, or if it isn't emptying as it should. The test provides valuable information about gallbladder or bile duct issues without invasive procedures.
