HFC
HFC, or Hydrofluorocarbon, is a type of chemical commonly used in air conditioning, refrigeration, and aerosol products as a coolant or propellant. It was developed as a less harmful alternative to earlier refrigerants that damaged the ozone layer. While HFCs don't harm the ozone, they are potent greenhouse gases that can contribute to global warming if released into the atmosphere. Their use is regulated internationally to reduce climate impact, and efforts are underway to phase out HFCs in favor of more environmentally friendly options.
