Heyerdahl's expeditions

Thor Heyerdahl was an explorer who believed ancient peoples from South America might have traveled to Polynesia. In 1947, he built a simple papyrus raft called the Kon-Tiki and sailed from Peru to the Tahiti islands to test this idea. His successful voyage showed that it was possible for ancient people to make long sea journeys using basic technology. Heyerdahl also led other expeditions, like the Ra and Tigris floats, to study how early cultures might have interacted across oceans. His work challenged traditional views on migration and cultural exchange across vast seas.
