Heuristic-analytical Model
The Heuristic-Analytical Model describes how we make decisions by combining quick, intuitive judgments (heuristics) with careful, deliberate analysis (analytical reasoning). Initially, our brain uses simple mental shortcuts to arrive at a rough decision swiftly. If needed, we then engage in a more thorough evaluation, examining the details and evidence to confirm or adjust that initial judgment. This model highlights that decision-making often involves a balance between fast, automatic thinking and slower, more reflective analysis, depending on the situation’s complexity and importance.
