Heterotopia
Heterotopia is a concept introduced by philosopher Michel Foucault that refers to real places that are different from everyday spaces, offering alternative experiences or social orders. Examples include cemeteries, gardens, and theme parks. These spaces challenge our usual understanding of society and culture by juxtaposing differing norms and meanings. Heterotopias highlight the complexities of how we experience space and time, serving as mirrors or counterpoints to the ordinary, revealing the diversity of human existence and the multiple layers of social reality.
