Hepatobiliary cancers

Hepatobiliary cancers are tumors that develop in the liver or the bile ducts, which are small tubes that carry bile—a fluid that helps digest fats. The most common types are hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) and cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). These cancers can develop due to factors like chronic liver disease, hepatitis infections, alcohol use, or exposure to harmful chemicals. Symptoms may include weight loss, jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes), abdominal pain, and fatigue. Treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or targeted therapies, depending on the cancer’s stage and location.
