Hepatitis E

Hepatitis E is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV). It typically spreads through contaminated water or food, especially in areas with poor sanitation. Most people experience symptoms like jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), fatigue, nausea, and abdominal pain. The infection is usually self-limited, meaning it resolves on its own, but it can be more severe in pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems. There is a vaccine available in some countries, and prevention mainly involves good hygiene, safe drinking water, and proper food handling.
