Henry Ireton

Henry Ireton was an English general and political figure during the English Civil War in the 1640s. He was a close associate of Oliver Cromwell and played a key role in the Parliament's New Model Army. Ireton was also involved in shaping the political and military strategy against King Charles I, ultimately contributing to the king's trial and execution. After Cromwell’s rise, Ireton served as a prominent leader in the Commonwealth of England. He was known for his military skill and dedication to the republican cause, though he died young in 1651, before the monarchy was restored.
