Henry Hudson

Henry Hudson was an English explorer in the early 1600s known for voyages that expanded European knowledge of North America. He sought a northwest passage to Asia but didn't find it. Instead, he explored and mapped parts of the Arctic, present-day New York, and the surrounding regions. His voyages led to European interest and settlement in these areas. Hudson's most famous journey was along what became the Hudson River and into areas that would later become New York City. His explorations significantly contributed to the European understanding of North American geography and initiated Dutch claims in the region.
