Henri III of France

Henri III of France (1574–1589) was a monarch of the late 16th century, ruling during a turbulent period marked by religious conflicts between Catholics and Protestants. He was the last king from the Valois dynasty, reigning from 1574 until his assassination in 1589. Henri III aimed to maintain Catholic dominance but faced ongoing civil wars and political unrest. His rule was characterized by efforts to stabilize France and navigate complex noble rivalries. Despite his efforts, he struggled with internal dissent and ultimately was murdered by a fanatic, paving the way for the rise of the Bourbon dynasty with his successor, Henry IV.
