Henri de Guise

Henri de Guise was a prominent French nobleman and politician during the late 16th century, known for leading Catholic forces during France's Wars of Religion. As a duke and a key figure in the Catholic League, he opposed Protestant Henry of Navarre (later King Henry IV) and played a significant role in political and religious conflicts. His ambition and military actions made him influential but also a controversial figure, ultimately leading to his assassination in 1588, which intensified the turbulent struggle between Catholics and Protestants in France.
