Hennebique process
The Hennebique process is a method of building with reinforced concrete, developed by François Hennebique in the early 20th century. It involves embedding steel reinforcement bars (rebars) within concrete to strengthen structures like beams and floors. This combination takes advantage of concrete's compressive strength and steel’s tensile strength, making buildings more durable and capable of bearing heavier loads. The Hennebique system introduced standardized techniques for using reinforced concrete, leading to safer, more versatile construction methods that are still fundamental to modern structural engineering.
