Hemiptera

Hemiptera, commonly known as true bugs, is an order of insects characterized by their specialized mouthparts designed for piercing and sucking. They include insects like shield bugs, aphids, cicadas, and bed bugs. These insects can feed on plant sap, blood, or other insects. Hemipterans often have distinctive forewings called hemelytra, which are partly hardened and partly membranous. They play diverse roles in ecosystems, some as pests affecting crops and plants, while others are important in food chains or biological control.
