Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E)

Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) are two dyes used in pathology to stain tissue samples, making them easier to examine under a microscope. Hematoxylin stains cell nuclei blue or purple, highlighting where genetic material is stored. Eosin stains the cytoplasm and other tissue components pink or red, providing contrast and detail. This combination helps pathologists identify normal structures and detect abnormalities or diseases within tissues, such as inflammation or cancer. The H&E stain is a standard, essential tool in medical diagnosis that reveals vital cellular details in tissue biopsies.
