Hematopoietic stem cell
A hematopoietic stem cell is a special type of stem cell found in bone marrow that can develop into all types of blood cells, including red blood cells, which carry oxygen; white blood cells, which fight infections; and platelets, which help blood clot. These stem cells are essential for producing and replenishing blood throughout your life. They are unique because they have the ability to both self-renew (make more of themselves) and differentiate (transform into specific blood cell types). This process is crucial for maintaining healthy blood in the body and can be harnessed in treatments like bone marrow transplants.
