HELLP Syndrome

HELLP syndrome is a serious pregnancy complication characterized by three main issues: Hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells), Elevated liver enzymes (indicating liver damage), and Low platelet count (affecting blood clotting). It usually develops late in pregnancy or shortly after delivery and can cause symptoms such as headache, nausea, upper stomach pain, and visual disturbances. HELLP syndrome requires prompt medical attention because it can lead to severe health problems for both mother and baby, including liver problems, bleeding issues, or preeclampsia. Treatment often involves hospitalization, medication, and sometimes early delivery to ensure safety.
