helium-3

Helium-3 is a rare isotope of helium, consisting of two protons and one neutron. Unlike the common helium-4, it has a unique ability to produce nuclear fusion with deuterium (a hydrogen isotope) at relatively low temperatures. This makes helium-3 a promising potential fuel for clean and efficient nuclear energy, as fusion reactions produce minimal radioactive waste. Naturally, helium-3 is scarce on Earth but abundant on the Moon and in solar winds. Its safe and sustainable energy potential has generated interest for future power sources, although practical extraction and utilization remain in development.
