Helio-centric model
The heliocentric model is a way of understanding our solar system where the Sun is at the center, and planets, including Earth, orbit around it. This contrasts with earlier models that placed the Earth at the center. The idea, developed in the 16th century by Nicolaus Copernicus, explains planetary motions more accurately and simply. It helps us understand why planets appear to move against the background stars over time and why they sometimes appear brighter or dimmer. This model has become the foundation for modern astronomy, providing a clearer picture of how the solar system functions.
