Helicobacter Pylori Infections
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a type of bacteria that can live in the stomach lining. It’s common and can cause infections, which may lead to stomach problems like ulcers or even gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). Many people with H. pylori don’t show symptoms, but if they do, they might experience stomach pain, bloating, or nausea. H. pylori is usually spread through contaminated food or water. Diagnosis is done through breath, stool, or biopsies. Treatment often involves antibiotics and medications to reduce stomach acid, helping to clear the infection and heal the stomach lining.
