heavy oil extraction

Heavy oil extraction involves retrieving thick, viscous petroleum that doesn’t flow easily through pipelines. Because of its density, traditional methods aren’t effective. Instead, techniques like thermal recovery are used, where steam is injected to heat the oil, making it thinner and easier to pump out. Alternatively, chemical and gas injection methods can reduce viscosity. These processes are more complex and costly than conventional oil extraction but are necessary to access the dense, persistent oils found in underground reservoirs. The goal is to efficiently recover this resource while managing environmental impacts.
