Heated Tobacco Products
Heated Tobacco Products (HTPs) are devices that heat tobacco to generate an aerosol for inhalation, releasing nicotine without burning the tobacco. Unlike traditional cigarettes, which combust tobacco producing smoke and numerous harmful chemicals, HTPs operate at lower temperatures, reducing some harmful emissions. Users typically inhale a vapor containing nicotine and flavorings, which can satisfy tobacco cravings with potentially fewer health risks. However, HTPs still deliver nicotine, which is addictive, and their long-term health effects are not fully understood. They are marketed as alternatives to smoking but should be used cautiously, especially by non-smokers.
