Heart Mountain Relocation Center

Heart Mountain Relocation Center was a U.S. government internment camp in Wyoming, operational from 1942 to 1945, where Japanese Americans were forcibly relocated during World War II. Established after President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, it detained around 10,000 Japanese Americans, primarily from California. The camp consisted of barracks, schools, and other facilities, and residents endured loss of freedom, property, and normal life. Today, it serves as a historical site, commemorating the injustices faced and emphasizing lessons about civil liberties and racial prejudice.
