Health Protection Agency (HPA)

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) was a UK government organization responsible for protecting public health by preventing and controlling infectious diseases and other health threats. It conducted research, provided expert advice, and coordinated responses to outbreaks like flu, food safety concerns, and environmental hazards. In 2013, the HPA merged into Public Health England, continuing its mission to ensure the safety and well-being of the population through surveillance, investigation, and health promotion initiatives.
