HD DVD
HD DVD was a high-definition optical disc format developed for storing and playing high-definition movies and content. It used blue-violet laser technology to hold more data than standard DVDs, enabling better picture and sound quality. Launched in the mid-2000s, HD DVD competed with Blu-ray but ultimately was discontinued around 2008 after losing support from major studios and manufacturers. It was praised for its affordability and ease of production, but the format war led to Blu-ray becoming the industry standard for high-definition discs.
