HCV (Housing Choice Voucher)
The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, also known as Section 8, helps low-income families, elderly, and disabled individuals afford quality rental housing. The program is administered by local public housing agencies (PHAs), which pay a subsidy directly to landlords on behalf of the tenant. The tenant then pays the difference between the actual rent and the subsidy. This allows participants to choose housing in the private market that meets standards for safety and quality, thereby increasing housing options and promoting stability for those with limited income.
