HCL (Hairy Cell Leukemia)
Hairy Cell Leukemia (HCL) is a rare type of blood cancer that affects certain white blood cells called B lymphocytes. In HCL, these cells grow abnormally and build up in the bone marrow and spleen, which can cause symptoms like fatigue, easy bruising, infections, and enlarged organs. It often progresses slowly but can interfere with the blood's ability to fight infections and carry oxygen. Treatment typically involves targeted therapies that help control the abnormal cells, and many patients respond well, achieving long-term remission.
