Hazardous Energy Control
Hazardous Energy Control, also known as Lockout/Tagout, is a safety procedure used to ensure that machinery or equipment is completely turned off and cannot be accidentally energized while maintenance or repairs are being performed. This involves shutting down the equipment, isolating it from energy sources (electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.), and securing it with locks or tags to prevent accidental activation. The goal is to protect workers from electrical shocks, burns, or other injuries caused by unexpected startup or release of stored energy during servicing. Proper implementation minimizes risk and promotes a safe working environment.
