Hazara Ethnicity

The Hazara are an ethnic group primarily residing in Afghanistan, with smaller communities in Pakistan and Iran. They are distinguished by their Central Asian features, including distinct facial characteristics and often Persian-influenced language, Hazaragi. Predominantly Shia Muslims, Hazaras have a unique cultural identity within Afghanistan’s diverse population. Historically marginalized and often targeted during conflicts, they have a rich cultural heritage rooted in their history, language, and traditions. Despite challenges, the Hazara maintain a strong sense of community and resilience, contributing significantly to the social fabric of their regions.
