Hawaiian Committee of Safety
The Hawaiian Committee of Safety was a group of American and European residents in Hawaii formed in 1893 to organize resistance against Queen Liliuokalani's attempt to restore royal authority. They aimed to protect American interests and prevent the monarchy's power from returning. The committee coordinated efforts that led to the overthrow of the Queen, resulting in the establishment of a provisional government. This event eventually contributed to Hawaii's annexation by the United States. The Committee of Safety played a pivotal role in Hawaii's transition from a sovereign kingdom to a U.S. territory.
