Haruspex

A haruspex was an ancient Roman religious official who practiced divination by examining the entrails of sacrificed animals, especially the liver. They believed that the gods communicated guidance through the way these organs looked and their internal features. This practice helped Romans make important decisions about political, military, and public affairs. The haruspex's role combined elements of religious ritual, interpretation, and omens, serving as an early form of seeking divine insight into future events or divine will.
