
Hartford Whalers
The Hartford Whalers were a professional ice hockey team based in Hartford, Connecticut, that played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1979 until 1997. Originally founded as the Winnipeg Jets in 1972, they relocated to Hartford in 1979 and were known for their passionate fan base and the distinctive "Wail of the Whaler" song. In 1997, the team relocated again to become the Carolina Hurricanes. The Whalers are remembered fondly by fans for their unique logo, green and blue color scheme, and significant contributions to hockey culture in Connecticut.
