Harrington Rod

A Harrington Rod is a metal implant used in spinal surgery to correct and stabilize abnormal curvature of the spine, such as scoliosis. It consists of a flexible rod and hooks or screws that are attached to the vertebrae. During surgery, the rod is anchored to the spine to straighten it and prevent further curvature. This procedure helps improve posture, reduce pain, and prevent progression of spinal deformity. The Harrington Rod was widely used in the past, though newer techniques have since been developed. It aims to provide lasting spinal support and alignment.
