Harriet Brooks
Harriet Brooks (1876–1933) was a pioneering Canadian physicist known for her work in nuclear physics. She was one of the first women to receive a degree in physics in Canada and made significant contributions to the understanding of radioactivity and the behavior of radioactive isotopes. Brooks is particularly noted for her research on the emission of alpha particles from radioactive materials and her involvement in early studies of nuclear energy. Despite facing challenges in a male-dominated field, her research laid important groundwork for future discoveries in physics and nuclear science.
