Harijans

"Harijans" is a term coined by Mahatma Gandhi meaning "Children of God." It was used to refer to Dalits, formerly known as "Untouchables," who faced social discrimination in India due to their lower caste status. Gandhi aimed to promote respect and equality for these marginalized groups, emphasizing their dignity and human rights. Over time, the term has become less common, with "Dalit" now preferred.
