Hardware tokens
Hardware tokens are small physical devices used to verify a person's identity, often for securing online accounts or access to systems. They generate unique, temporary codes (called one-time passwords) that the user enters during login, providing an extra layer of security beyond just a password. Examples include key fobs, USB devices, or smart cards. Because they are physical and create dynamic codes, hardware tokens are difficult for hackers to replicate or steal remotely, making them an effective tool to protect sensitive information and ensure that only authorized users can gain access.
