Happy Planet Index

The Happy Planet Index (HPI) is a measure that shows how efficiently countries use resources to promote long, happy lives for their residents sustainably. It considers three factors: life expectancy (how long people live), experienced well-being (how happy or satisfied people feel), and ecological footprint (the environmental impact of the country's resource use). A higher HPI indicates a country that achieves good health and happiness with less environmental damage. It helps to evaluate whether a nation's development benefits people without harming the planet.
