Hang time

Hang time refers to the duration a basketball or other object remains in the air after being released or thrown. It measures the time from when the ball leaves the player's hand until it comes back down to the ground. Longer hang time allows players more opportunity to make plays, such as shooting, rebounding, or defending, while also demonstrating their jumping ability and control. Factors influencing hang time include the force of the jump, angle of release, and gravity. Essentially, it's a way to gauge how long an athlete can sustain airborne motion during an activity.
