Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease
Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) is a common viral infection, primarily affecting young children. It is caused by viruses, usually coxsackievirus. Symptoms include fever, sore throat, and painful sores or blisters on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth. HFMD spreads easily through close contact, respiratory droplets, and contaminated surfaces. While it can cause discomfort, it is generally mild and resolves on its own within a week to ten days. Treatment focuses on alleviating symptoms, such as pain relief and hydration. Good hygiene practices, like handwashing, can help prevent its spread.
