Hammer Toe
Hammer toe is a condition where a toe, usually the second, third, or fourth toe, bends abnormally at the middle joint, causing it to resemble a hammer. This deformity results from muscle or ligament imbalance, often due to tight footwear, injury, or underlying conditions like arthritis. It can cause discomfort, corns, calluses, and difficulty walking. Mild cases may be flexible and correctable with proper footwear and exercises, while severe or fixed deformities might require medical interventions like orthotics or surgery to restore normal toe alignment.
