Halogens
Halogens are a group of five reactive elements found in Group 17 of the periodic table: fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine. They are known for their high reactivity, especially with metals, forming various compounds like salts. Halogens have seven electrons in their outermost shell, which makes them eager to gain one more electron to become stable. They are used in everyday items such as disinfectants, water treatment, and lighting. Due to their reactivity, they can be dangerous, but in controlled applications, they are essential for many industrial and biological processes.
