Hailstorms
Hailstorms occur when strong updrafts in thunderstorms carry water droplets high into cold areas of the atmosphere. There, the droplets freeze and become ice pellets. As these pellets fall, they can be lifted again by the storm's updrafts, accumulating layers of ice until they become too heavy to be supported. When released, they fall to the ground as hailstones, which can vary in size from small pellets to large chunks. Hail can cause significant damage to crops, vehicles, and buildings due to its size and speed upon impact, making hailstorms a serious weather phenomenon.
