Hail suppression
Hail suppression involves using techniques to reduce or prevent the formation of damaging hailstones in thunderstorms. One common method is cloud seeding, where tiny particles like silver iodide are released into clouds to promote the growth of many smaller ice particles instead of large hailstones. By encouraging numerous small ice crystals, the process disrupts the development of large hail, minimizing potential damage to crops, property, and the environment. While not foolproof, hail suppression aims to moderate the severity of hail storms and their impacts.
