Haglund's deformity

Haglund's deformity is a bony enlargement at the back of the heel bone (calcaneus). This bump can cause irritation and swelling of the surrounding soft tissues, especially where the Achilles tendon attaches. It often results from wearing tight, stiff shoes that rub against the heel, leading to inflammation, pain, and sometimes bursitis (fluid buildup). People with this deformity may experience heel discomfort, especially when walking or wearing certain footwear. Treatment typically includes wearing more comfortable shoes, taking anti-inflammatory medications, or in some cases, surgical removal of the bony bump to relieve symptoms.
