Hadron Colliders

Hadron colliders are large scientific machines that accelerate protons or neutrons (collectively called hadrons) to extremely high speeds, close to the speed of light. They then make these particles collide inside a specialized detector. By analyzing the resulting interactions and particle debris, scientists can study the fundamental building blocks of matter and the forces governing them. These colliders help researchers explore the origins of the universe, test theories like the Standard Model, and search for new particles, deepening our understanding of the universe at its smallest scales.
