Haddon’s Matrix
Haddon's Matrix is a tool used to analyze and prevent injuries by examining factors across three phases of an incident: pre-event (before the injury happens), event (the moment of injury), and post-event (after the injury occurs). It also considers three categories: the person involved, the environment around them, and the equipment or vehicle used. By organizing factors this way, safety professionals can identify opportunities to reduce risk or severity at each stage—like improving safety education before an event, designing safer equipment during the event, or providing better medical response afterward.
