H2CO3

H₂CO₃, or carbonic acid, is a weak acid formed when carbon dioxide (CO₂) dissolves in water. It plays a key role in regulating blood pH and is also found in natural water sources, contributing to the acidity of rainwater. In the body, carbonic acid helps maintain the balance between acids and bases, ensuring proper functioning of cells. When CO₂ levels increase, more carbonic acid forms, which can lower pH. Conversely, when CO₂ decreases, the acid breaks down, helping to keep the system stable.
