Guzmán el Bueno was a medieval Castilian nobleman and military leader famous for his loyalty and bravery. In 1296, during a siege, he was captured by the Moors but chose to sacrifice himself to protect the city of Tarifa and its people. He refused to hand over his nephew to the enemy, knowing it would cost him his life, and instead faced imprisonment and hardship. His actions made him a symbol of honor and steadfastness, remembered as an epitome of noble loyalty and courage in Spanish history.
