Guttation

Guttation is the process by which plants release water droplets from the tips or edges of their leaves. This occurs when roots absorb more water than the plant can transpire through its leaves, especially during humid nights when transpiration is low. The excess water moves upward through the plant's vascular system and is expelled through specialized structures called hydathodes. Guttation helps regulate internal water pressure and prevents the buildup of excess moisture. These droplets are rich in minerals and are often visible early in the morning, appearing as tiny beads on leaf edges.
