Guthrum

Guthrum was a Viking leader, known primarily for his role in the conflicts between the Danish Vikings and Anglo-Saxon England in the late 9th century. After a series of battles, including the significant Battle of Edington in 878, Guthrum was defeated by King Alfred the Great. Following his defeat, he accepted baptism and converted to Christianity, which was a key moment in the integration of Viking culture into Anglo-Saxon society. Guthrum later ruled the Danelaw, a region in England where Danish laws and customs prevailed, marking a significant period of Viking influence in English history.
