Gustaf Dalén
Gustaf Dalén was a Swedish engineer and inventor known for revolutionizing lighthouse technology. He developed automatic lighting systems and the sun-valve, which turned lighthouse lamps on at sunset and off at sunrise without manual effort, greatly improving maritime safety. Despite losing his sight in an accident, Dalén continued innovating, earning the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1912. His work made navigation safer and more efficient, especially for ships navigating challenging waters. Dalén's contributions significantly advanced lighthouse automation and are considered key milestones in maritime safety technology.
